Going Away For Spring Break? Here’s What Travel Insurance You Should Consider
Spring break is just around the corner and while you may have all your travel arrangements sorted out you may want to consider looking into travel insurance coverage as well. Everyone wants a safe and enjoyable vacation, but things don’t always go as planned.
Whether you’re backpacking alone in a foreign country or relaxing with your family on the beach at a resort, there is a travel package that will fit your needs. Purchasing travel protection before embarking on your trip will help reimburse out-of-pocket expenses caused by unforeseen illness or injury, unexpected trip cancellation or interruption or lost or stolen luggage.
Find a travel plan that’s right for you! The following coverages are available when considering travel insurance:
Emergency Medical Coverage
This coverage will help reimburse for any unforeseen costs due to a non-pre-existing illness or accident while travelling outside of BC, within Canada, the US, or abroad. There is always a risk of getting sick or injured on vacation and whether you come down with the flu or break a bone, travel insurance may compensate for any out-of-pocket hospitalization expenses incurred. This could save you hundreds of thousands of dollars depending on the extent of the illness or injuries and the length of stay required in the hospital.
The following medical plans are available to fit your travel needs:
- Single-trip travel medical – individual and/or family plans
- Multi-trip travel medical – individual and/or family plans
Once travel plans are made, it can be a hassle to cancel them. Often times, you cannot get a full refund and end up losing money due to unexpected circumstances. This is why we always recommend purchasing Trip Cancellation and/or Trip Interruption Insurance when booking your vacation. Trip Cancellation Insurance will help reimburse costs if you cancel your trip before departing and Trip Interruption will help cover the costs if your trip is interrupted after you’ve left.
Losing your luggage is never fun, especially when you arrive at your tropical destination wearing the parka you left in. In the event of your luggage getting lost, Baggage Insurance coverage will help reimburse for the loss, damage, or theft of your belongings and/or personal effects while in transit, at your hotel or en route anywhere in the world whether it’s on water, land, or in the air.
Visitors to Canada
Visitors to Canada Insurance covers visitors to Canada that may need medical treatment before becoming eligible for the provincial health plan coverage. This will help reimburse costs associated with hospitalization in the event of an illness or injury while visiting Canada.
Please note that all Travel Insurance must be purchased prior to the trip departure.
